We started our day with a cozy breakfast at the hotel—nothing fancy, just the kind of simple start you need before a full day of exploring. Afterward, we hopped on the train to Windsor, where the town feels like something straight out of a storybook.

Windsor Castle did not disappoint. It’s as grand and majestic as you’d imagine, perched above the town like it’s been watching over everything for centuries (because, well, it has). One of the highlights for both of us was the kids activity center tucked away inside. My daughter got to paint a watercolor of the crown, which was such a sweet, hands-on way to connect with the history.

The State Rooms were absolutely stunning. Each one felt more elaborate than the last—soaring ceilings, intricate gold details, and a sense of formality that made me slow down and take it all in. There’s something surreal about walking through a place that still serves as a functioning royal residence.

After our castle adventures, we made our way back to London by train and took a few much-needed hours to recharge in our hotel room. Sometimes, the best part of travel is knowing when to hit pause.

Later in the afternoon, we made our way across town to visit the London office of my firm. I’d never been to this location before, so it was a nice little detour—part work, part curiosity. There’s something grounding about stepping into a space that’s both familiar and completely new.

I brought my daughter along with me, and she was an absolute star. Her manners were impeccable, and it was such a proud-parent moment to watch how naturally charming she was with the adults around her. She listened, smiled, and handled herself with the kind of poise that made me realize just how much she’s growing up.

I also had the chance to meet with a colleague I’ve worked with for years but had never met in person. Meeting in their home office added a layer of context and connection that’s hard to get over Zoom. We only had a short time together, but it was one of those moments that makes the world feel a bit smaller—and work feel a bit more human.

We ended the day in the coziest way possible—back in our hotel room, tucked under blankets, sharing pastries instead of going out for dinner. After a full day of castles, trains, and a little work, it was exactly what we needed. Sometimes, the quiet moments in between all the sightseeing are the ones that really let the day sink in.

Tomorrow is shaping up to be a big one: the Crown Jewels in the morning and the Harry Potter Studios in the afternoon. But tonight, we’re letting the city hum around us while we rest, grateful for another day of memories made.
