Sometimes all you need is 15 minutes.
When you’re a solo parent, a professional, and a person who occasionally just needs to breathe without someone asking you for a snack—15 minutes can feel like gold.
Here are my favorite ways to recharge quickly when I need a reset but don’t have the luxury of disappearing for a full spa day (or, let’s be real, even a full hour).
📖 Read an Article
Not a whole book, not a deep-dive essay—just one interesting, smart, slightly indulgent article. I like scrolling through The Atlantic, The New York Times, or even Reddit. It gives me a little window into the outside world and helps shift my mental gears.
🌿 Smoke a Joint
Let’s normalize this. Sometimes the quickest route to chill is exactly that. If it’s legal where you are and you’re in a safe space, this can be a great way to take the edge off and recalibrate.
📞 Call a Friend
Not a long emotional download—just a quick check-in. A real voice, a quick laugh, or a “can you believe this day” moment can change the whole tone of my afternoon.
🚶♀️Take a Walk
Even a loop around the block counts. Moving my body and seeing trees or sky can totally shift my mood. No AirPods, no agenda—just moving and breathing.
😴 Take a Cat Nap
I’ve become unapologetic about the 12-minute nap. Set a timer. Lie down. Close your eyes. Even if you don’t fully fall asleep, the stillness does wonders.
🚿 Take a Shower
The underrated therapy of running water. I don’t always have time to luxuriate, but a quick shower can rinse off more than just sweat—it resets my brain, too.
Wrap-Up:
These aren’t groundbreaking. They’re just real. The key is giving yourself permission to stop, even for a moment. Especially when everything around you is telling you to go, go, go.
What’s your go-to reset button? Share in the comments—I’m always looking for more 15-minute miracles.
